As I take this deeply meaningful step, I find myself reflecting on the reasons behind my commitment. My journey here is filled with the stories of women throughout the Arab world—stories of resilience, unrealized potential, and, too often, quiet struggles. It’s an honour to be among the next generation of Emiratis to join the Giving Pledge, and I feel grateful to stand among remarkable individuals inspired to create lasting change.

I have seen firsthand the challenges women in our region face, often due to social inequalities and limited awareness. Too many grow up believing there are no alternatives to the status quo, limited to roles and expectations imposed upon them. It pains me to know that many feel a sense of frustration without understanding its source, unable to see the possibilities ahead. Every woman deserves dignity, independence, and the autonomy to shape her own path. Every woman deserves to recognise her potential.

It is estimated it could take 115 years to close the gender gap in the Middle East and North Africa. Whilst the journey may be demanding, I’m committed to this cause and deeply believe the gap will be bridged. Through the Meem Foundation’s innovative and holistic approach, we are committed to empowering women and girls with the tools they need to transform their lives. From scholarships to relief funds, each initiative brings us one step closer to a more equitable society.

Growing up, I watched my parents give with dedication and purpose. My father’s commitment went beyond donations. He personally oversaw projects across communities in India, East Africa, and the UAE, and built teams to ensure each project had a lasting and measurable impact. His hands-on approach showed me the power of intentionally giving and empowering communities to build a better future.

By joining the Giving Pledge, I hope to inspire others to invest in the potential of women in the Arab world and beyond. Bill and Melinda Gates—thank you for demonstrating that philanthropy has no borders. I look forward to what we can achieve together.
