Pledge letter
We see philanthropy as a way to pursue impactful ideas that have no other home. We want to help build solutions for problems that are stuck in the gaps: between market and government, between consensus and heresy, between what’s fundable today and what’s essential tomorrow. As a scientist and an engineer, we hope to bring our expertise to these efforts.
Our focus is systemic change at the root level. This work requires solutions that are best explored by trying, learning, and iterating – an empirical approach that we’ve honed through our own technical work.
We’re giving away the vast majority of our wealth during our lifetime. For us, this is a meaningful way to spend our time: testing ideas we believe in, giving them space to grow, and building what might otherwise fall through the cracks. This work excites us, as does learning alongside others who have devoted their lives to driving change.
