Our Giving Pledge

Jackie and I are honored to commit ourselves to the Giving Pledge. We’ve spent our lives enriched by the communities around us, and it’s a privilege to be able to give back to causes that can help the world around us be a safer and kinder place.

We share a passion to help improve the education system that serves the community around us. We’re both products of the public education systems where we grew up, and we recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of the teachers and other adults who nurtured us, and helped shape us into the people we are. Knowing that we can use our means to give more children an enriching education and an opportunity to use those skills to contribute meaningfully to our society motivates us both tremendously.

Jackie and I also feel deeply indebted to the men and women of our military. As parents of young children, we think often of the sacrifice that our brave soldiers make daily to give our family the freedom and protection that we enjoy daily. I have had the honor and privilege to hire hundreds of US Veterans into our companies, and I will look to accelerate that as we grow. We will continue to look for new ways that we can help the veteran community contribute their incredible and hard-won skills back into our society while feeling welcomed and accepted by it.

We’re by no means experts in the process of giving today, but we are blessed to have come into the means to give while we are young, and we look forward to giving the vast majority of our wealth away during our lifetimes. We hope that with the guidance and advice of this group, and with diligent study and care on our side, we will be more effective and ambitious in our giving over our lives.
