Pledge letter

To the Giving Pledge:
I have long believed that the highest form of giving is anonymous giving. That said, I have put aside my past reluctance to acknowledge my participation in the Giving Pledge and to publicly endorse the importance of leading by example, supporting the underprivileged and helping those in need.
I am humbled that I am able to make this pledge. I would not be able to do this without recognizing the support of my family, longtime friends, past and present coworkers, and my parents, all of whom were instrumental in making me who I am.
There are so many serious issues in today’s world to address. In a world so divided and polarized, it is my great honor to participate in the Giving Pledge. It is refreshing to see many with different points of view come together to repair the world and commit to future generations and philanthropy.
The mission of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation “To create a world where every person has the opportunity to live a healthy, productive life,” says it all. In addition, productive lives benefit the general population by reducing poverty, improving health, and reducing crime and violence.
I have had many opportunities to live a healthy and productive life, thanks to my parents, education, and peers. I am hopeful that my Giving Pledge will provide similar opportunities for those who may not otherwise have them, particularly in the Chicago area where I grew up and built my business.
This gift back to society originates from and is in tribute to the CDW old-timers who believed “Success means never being satisfied.”
Thank You,
Michael
